ART EXHIBITION 2026

This year's exhibition report:

It was another extremely successful exhibition this year in terms of the number of artists participating, standard of the artwork, public attendance, picture sales, raffle - and cakes consumed! It was not only a financial success, but a very enjoyable social event, bringing together the local & wider communities.

Some facts and figures:

- 153 artists exhibited paintings, 25 of whom also displayed greetings cards

- There were 527 paintings on display, 414 of which were framed and hung or standing on chairs; the other 113 were unframed & stacked in boxes for visitors to flick through

- There were about 900 visitors over the 9 days of the exhibition

- 162 paintings were sold (our highest ever by a long way!), which is 31% of those on show – a wonderful testament to the quality of the works of art on display - and over 800 cards

- 60% of the artists sold at least one picture – another record

- As usual, the cafe was highly successful – almost unmanageably busy at times - and the quality of the cakes, savouries & sandwiches was as good as ever

- It was a good year for the raffle which sold over 550 tickets and 14 lucky entrants won prizes

- Once again we ran a best-in-show poll and the top 3 this year were:

- 1st : “Bald Eagle Family” by Euan Bryson

- 2nd : “The Copper Pot” by Roger Young

- 3rd : “Sailing” by Moira Metcalfe

As always, the exhibition could not have been so successful without the assistance, enthusiasm, dedication and energy of all the participants who are too numerous to name here but deserve our full gratitude. We estimate well over 60 volunteers were involved, including many of the artists, and members of the BVH committee, Bickerton Parish Church, the BVH Art Class, local art groups & the local community in general.
