Art Exhibition Report:
17th Annual Bickerton Village Hall Art Exhibition
(27th July - 4th August 2024)
We have had another very successful exhibition this year in terms of the numbers participating, standard of the artwork, public attendance, sales, raffle - and cakes consumed! I think all involved or attending enjoyed themselves tremendously; we have received many positive comments on all aspects of the event.
Some facts and figures:
- 136 artists exhibited paintings, 25 of whom also displayed greeting cards
- There were 503 paintings on display, 381 of which were framed and hung or standing on chairs; the other 122 were unframed & stacked in boxes for visitors to flick through
- There were more than 820 visitors over the 9 days of the exhibition
- 108 paintings were sold, which is 21% of those on show, and ~700 cards
- Just under half of the artists sold at least one picture
- The cafe was amazingly successful and the quality of the cakes, savouries and sandwiches was highly praised
- It was a terrific year for the raffle which sold over 700 tickets and 14 lucky entrants won prizes
- We ran a best-in-show poll again and the top 3 this year were:
- 1st : “Bulkeley Hill” by Nigel Welburn
- 2nd : “By the Water” by Sam Carr
- 3rd : “Across the Mersey” by Kevin Sparrow
[Photos of these paintings can be seen on the Hall website (bickertonvillagehall.com), attached to this report.]
As always, the exhibition could not have been so successful without the assistance, enthusiasm, dedication and energy of all the participants who are too numerous to name here but deserve our full gratitude. We estimate well over 60 volunteers were involved, including many of the artists, and members of the BVH committee, Bickerton Parish Church, the BVH Art Class, local art groups & the local community in general. Many thanks to you all and -
here’s looking forward to next year!
