THE CONDUCTOR - Saturday 28 April at 7.30pm


With the support of Cheshire Rural Touring Arts, Bickerton Village Hall is thrilled to present the play 'The Conductor' featuring the music of Shostakovich and Symphony Number 7 in C Major.    In 1941, German troops surrounded Leningrad for more than 2 years and the battle claimed the lives of more than 1 million people.  In the midst of this devastation, Shostakovich worked tirelessly to complete his 7th Symphony - 'Sympthony for the People'  The Symphony was played across the front lines of the Russian Resistance and it is claimed lifted an entire city in its darkest hour.   'The Conductor' is the story of how Shostokovich and Karl Eliasberg of the Radio Orchestra of Leningrad brought music to the people who needed it most.  A powerful and wonderful performance.  Tickets are £10pp from 01829 720440.

This year Bickerton Village Hall is delighted to welcome the award winning folk duo; Ninebarrow as part of The Sandstone Ridge Festival.
