Bickerton Village Hall

ART EXHIBITION 2018

The 12th Annual Art Exhibition takes place at Bickerton Village Hall from Saturday 21 July to Sunday 29 July 2018.

PAINTINGS:

Artists are invited to submit up to Four original paintings for the Exhibition to be held at Bickerton Village Hall. Please note, original paintings EXCLUDE prints, copies, photographs and digital art.   Artists are also asked not to re-enter the same pictures that they exhibited at Bickerton in 2016 or 2017. We do restrict the maximum size of paintings to 90cm x70cm.

Paintings must be ready to hang securely.  A label giving title, medium and artist’s name must be fixed on the back of each painting and signed to confirm that it is an original. Your work should be strung and not mirror plated.

The hanging fee is £3 per painting (£10 for ‘Not for Sale’ exhibits and artists are asked to only submit one not for sale painting) The entry fee must be returned with the completed entry form.  Cheques to be made payable to ‘Bickerton Village Hall’  Please note that our commission is 15% for each sale.

ENTRY FORMS:

Please complete the entry form and return it to:  The Art Exhibition, Bickerton Village Hall, Long Lane, Bickerton Cheshire SY14 8AU.  Receipt of your entry will be sent to you via email. If you do not have an email, please enclose a SAE with your form.

We appreciate not all artists will have work completed at this stage.  Therefore, we are happy to accept entry form and fee without the painting titles. This information must be supplied by Monday 18th June at the latest. An early reply with the entry fee is strongly recommended as we will not be able to display all the pictures that are offered. It is a first come first served policy.

The DEADLINE for final picture details and entry forms is Monday 18th June. Please note that the demand for space in 2017 was very high and as a result we may well be starting a waiting list less than 6 weeks after the issue date of this letter. Please reply as promptly as possible.

EXHIBITION WEEK:

Artists are asked to deliver their paintings (and if applicable cards) to Bickerton Village Hall on Tuesday 17 July between 1.30pm and 5pm.

There will be a Preview afternoon for exhibiting artists between 2pm and 4pm on Friday 20th July.

If you are able to help during the week of the Exhibition as a Volunteer, please indicate your preferred times on the form enclosed.   If we need your help we will be in contact to confirm this with you.   Volunteers only need attend who have received confirmation.

During the Exhibition we will forward details to you of prospective purchasers or people interested in commissioning work from you.   We ask that any resulting work would result in 15% commission being paid to the Village Hall.

All exhibiting artists are invited to attend on a day during the Exhibition to set up an easel and spend an hour or two painting. Visitors enjoy meeting artists and watching them work and we greatly appreciate the voluntary time artists offer.   Any artist undertaking a spell of ‘public’ painting is invited to bring a further selection of their mounted work (not necessarily framed), which may be offered for sale.  This may include prints if desired. There will be no hanging fee for this additional work, but we would ask that the 15% commission on any sales you make be given to Bickerton Village Hall.   At the end of the painting session, we ask artists not to leave their additional paintings/prints in the hall. If you wish to attend in this capacity please indicate on the entry form and we will confirm your attendance closer to the date. Please do not attend unless we have confirmed this with you as we can only provide very limited space for artists.

PRINTS:

For the first time we are offering the opportunity to sell prints of artists work. We will set up a space for this sale and it is limited to the first  x12 artists that apply. Those selected can bring some x12 prints which must be individually wrapped and priced. One print must be strung to allow us to display one print from each artist. The commission will be 20% per sale as for the cards. There will be a £10 entry fee for the sale of  prints. This will be invoiced to those who have had their prints accepted for display. Do not send any money for this with the entry form. If you have your own print rack for display it would be very helpful.

CARD SALES:

We would like to accommodate as many card sellers as possible during the Exhibition.  However, space for stands is limited and the opportunity to sell cards will be on a strictly first come, first served basis.   Cards will be sold in all rooms. Table space for card sellers will be labeled and we ask you to use the space allocated.

ALL CARDS MUST BE SOLD AT A SET PRICE.  We will not accept cards for sale that are all individually priced.  We make a 20% commission charge on the sale of cards.

Bickerton Village Hall makes every effort to ensure card sales are registered and recorded accurately but we cannot be held liable for errors with sales.

Commission cheques for cards will be issued on Monday 30th July.   See note below.

HOW YOU CAN HELP?

This is our 12th Annual Art Exhibition and we want to make it a great success for exhibitors, visitors and the Village Hall.

If you run an art class or attend a class, please can you share this document with as many people as possible.  We are keen to encourage new exhibitors and want everyone to have an opportunity to share their work with the public.

We would also be grateful if you can forward the Poster to friends and colleagues who may be interested in visiting the Exhibition and display some copies where you live.

Thank you for your support. We do ask you to note that the hall cannot accept liability for loss or damage to any pictures on display. It is the artist’s responsibility to ensure paintings and cards are insured.  We will, as always, take special care with security and try and ensure that all pictures are carefully looked after whilst in our care.
